Valentine’s Day: Paris the capital of love

Infinitely romantic, Paris is the city of lovers. Exhibitions for February 2023 in Paris

On 17 February 2023, the Atelier des Lumières unveils two exhibitions devoted to Marc Chagall and Paul Klee. On this occasion, visitors experience an artistic and immersive digital journey (until 14 January 2024)

The Centre Pompidou starts the year with an exhibition dedicated to the Indian painter Sayed Haider Raza. For this very first retrospective in Europe, the public is invited to discover almost a hundred works, from 15 February 2023. From 7 February 2023, and until November 2023, the Musée du Quai Branly-Jacques Chirac pays tribute to the writer, poet, and Senegalese statesman Léopold Sédar Senghor. The Jeu de Paume welcomes the works of the German conceptual artist Thomas Demand, where photography and architecture converge, from 14 February 2023. Over at the Maison Européenne de la Photographie (MEP), a first retrospective in France devoted to Zanele Muholi. The South African LGBT+ icon, photographer and activist has been exploring the question of identities for over 20 years. (from 1st February to 21 May 2023).

At the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie, the exhibition Metamorphoses, specially designed for young people aged 6 to 11, focuses on the fascinating transformations of the world and of living things. Kids and adults are invited to celebrate 60 years of street art with the exhibition Capitale(s): 60 years of urban art, at the Hôtel de Ville de Paris. Invader, JR, Miss Tic, Bansky, Swoon … more than 70 world renowned artists are featured. A unique tribute to popular art that celebrates freedom of expression (until 11 February 2023, free).

Less than an hour away from Paris, the Cabinet d’arts graphiques at the Château de Chantilly unveils a series of old photos of the famous chateau, at the time of the Duc d’Aumale (until 26 February 2023).

Concerts and shows in Paris in February 2023

Forget about the cold weather and enjoy a concert or a show in the French capital!

Opera and ballet fans have plenty to choose from: Balanchine (from 6 February to 10 March 2023) or a Tribute to Patrick Dupond (from 21 to 23 February 2023) at the Palais Garnier, Carmen (until 25 February 2023) or Lucia di Lammermoor (from 18 February to 10 March 2023), at the Opéra Bastille. At the Opéra Comique, the public can discover one of the great operas of the 21st century, L’inondation, directed by Joël Pommerat and composed by Francesco Filidei (à partir du 27 février 2023).

Lovers of pop rock music will flock to the Accor Arena to dance to the sounds of the greatest hits of Lewis Capaldi (26 February 2023) or Eros Ramazzotti (14 February 2023). And, at the Palais des Congrès, The World of Queen pays a dazzling tribute to the legendary rock band on 3 February 2023.

From 25 February to 5 March 2023, the The Agricultural Show 2023 welcomes professionals, and the general public to Paris Expo Porte de Versailles. This new edition is magnificently epitomized by the cow Ovalie, a true muse of this highly anticipated event! 

Sporting events in Paris in February 2023

Rugby fan? In February, it is the launch of the mythical Tournament of the VI Nations. Meet at the Stade de France (February 26, 2023) for the France - Scotland match and (March 18, 2023) for France - Wales.

The sixth edition of the Meeting de Paris Indoor takes place at the Accor Arena on 11 February 2023. For one evening, French and international track and field stars (Kevin Mayer, Renaud Lavillenie, Christophe Lemaitre, Antoinette Nana Djimou, …) compete in 7 sporting events. A memorable show!

Outings for children in Paris in February 2023

The Musée en Herbe looks back on 150 years of recorded music with its ‘En avant la musique’ exhibition.
