Leonardo vs. Michelangelo: the Immersive Challenge at the Cité de l'Histoire

The Cité de l'Histoire is hosting a unique immersive exhibition that traces the rivalry between Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo through virtual reality, large-scale projections, and an interactive tour

Presented by Amaclio Productions and designed by Layers of Reality in collaboration with JAM Reality, the immersive exhibition “Leonardo versus Michelangelo: The Immersive Challenge” is coming to the Cité de l’Histoire beneath the Grande Arche in Paris-La Défense. Inspired by the historic challenge of 1503, when the two Renaissance masters received simultaneous commissions for rival frescoes for the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence, the experience offers a unique narrative and interactive journey through nine themed rooms: a 25-minute immersive film projected in 360° to plunge visitors into the heart of the works and the vision of the two artists; a 360° virtual reality experience transporting visitors to Florence in the year 1500, its workshops, and the Hall of the Five Hundred; an interactive “Battle Royale” metaverse space where visitors can admire the masterpieces up close and in life-size form; a participatory theme invites the public to vote throughout the tour to decide between “Team Leonardo” and “Team Michelangelo.”
