Musée du quai Branly - Jacques Chirac: celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2026!, 37 quai Jacques Chirac - 75007 Paris
From 17 March to 20 September 2026
Spotlight on the decade that brought African and Oceanic arts to prominence
Between 1913 and 1923, ethnographic objects became more widely available thanks to art dealers and artists themselves, and were ‘transformed’ in the eyes of the public into a form of non-Western art. These new non-European objects and avant-garde works gave rise to a new perception of modern art. Through archival documents, photographs and works from Africa and Oceania, the exhibition " 1913–1923: the Spirit of the Times. Paris celebrates the arts of Africa and Oceania" presented at the Musée du Quai Branly – Jacques Chirac, reveals this new vision, which marks a significant turning point in art history and on the international market. On display from 17 March to 20 September 2026.
From 10.30am to 7pm. From 10.30am to 10pm on Thursday. Closed on Monday.
