A piece of nature in the heart of Paris, a botanical garden at the cutting edge of research, a living witness to history... the Jardin des Plantes is a scientific garden created four centuries ago. Its vocation is to bring together and study plant collections and to welcome the public. With its planted areas, remarkable trees, statues and pathways, it offers visitors a varied and well-preserved setting in which to stroll, and still conceals some mysterious and peaceful corners!
Visitors can stroll freely through the 2.5-hectare French garden, take a stroll through mountains from all over the world, learn about botany, discover remarkable and historic trees such as the 315-year-old pistachio tree, and enjoy an aesthetic and sensory experience.
In this green setting, cultural sites dedicated to nature and highlighting the Museum's exceptional heritage collections can be discovered along the way:
The historic galleries (museums), which present the challenges of biodiversity and geodiversity (the Grande Galerie de l'Évolution, the Galerie de Paléontologie et d'Anatomie comparée and the Galerie de Minéralogie et de Géologie);
La Ménagerie, the Jardin des Plantes zoo;
Les Grandes Serres, home to the tropics in Paris
