An immersive journey into the world of Cretaceous dinosaurs, 140 million years ago!
Starting 16 July 2026, the Grande Galerie de l’Évolution will present the special exhibition “In the Footsteps of the Dinosaurs.” It invites visitors to explore the paleontological sites of Aquitaine, once covered in swamps and lagoons, where - 140 million years ago, at the end of the Jurassic and the beginning of the Cretaceous periods -impressive dinosaurs and crocodiles lived. Drawing on the collections of the Angoulême Museum and the National Museum of Natural History, this exhibition showcases skeletons and bones recovered during excavations at the Angeac-Charente - now Europe’s largest dinosaur fossil site - and offers an immersive journey into the heart of this era through landscape reconstructions, films, and illustrations by comic book artist Pierre Mazan.
