More than 120 works explore civilizations’ fascination with the animal world at the Hôtel de la Marine

From July 9, 2026, to January 10, 2027, the Hôtel de la Marine presents “Animalia: Bestiary from the Al Thani Collection,” an exhibition exploring the role of the animal kingdom in the history of art and civilizations. Featuring more than 120 works-many of which are being shown in Paris for the first time-the exhibition brings together sculptures, jewelry, precious objects, paintings, drawings, and archaeological artifacts spanning nearly 4,000 years of history, from the 3rd millennium BCE to the 20th century. The thematic exhibition features exceptional works-including an Indian rhinoceros in black marble, a Fatimid elephant in rock crystal, Fabergé creations, Japanese sculptures, Mughal miniatures, and objects from Pharaonic Egypt-illustrating the diversity of cultures brought together by the Al Thani Collection.
Open daily from 10.30am to 7pm (ticket office closes at 6.15pm). The inner courtyard is open from 8am to 1am. The Hôtel de la Marine is open to visitors every Friday evening until 9.30pm ticket office closes at 8.45pm).
Full price: €13, which includes admission to the Al Thani Collection, the temporary exhibition, the state rooms, and the loggia.
