Palais Galliera, musée de la Mode de Paris

Built in the 19th century, the Palais Galliera now houses the Musée de la Mode de la Ville de Paris. The collections, including some 100,000 pieces of clothing and accessories, are among the richest in the world and reflect the fashion trends and habits of France from the 18th century until modern day. The Musée Galliera has exclusive temporary exhibitions held two or three times a year. The site has a library and resource centre that is accessible by appointment only.

Permanent collections : free. Temporary exhibitions: entry fee. The Carte Paris Musées (Paris Museum Card) gives access to all temporary exhibitions in museums belonging to the Mairie de Paris, with unlimited access and no queues. The card is valid for a year. Prices: €40 (individual card); €60 (card for 2 people); €20 (less than 26 years old). More information is available at http://www.parismusees.paris.fr/en.

Closed:

1 May, 25 December and 1 January. Early closure at 5pm on 24 December and 31 December.

Every Thursday until 9pm, the museum offers visitors the chance to visit its exhibitions by night.

Educational activities:

Throughout the year, the Palais Galliera offers attractive, diverse and inclusive cultural activities. In conjunction with its exhibition programme, the museum offers its visitors a range of activities to help them discover the history of fashion, including guided tours of its exhibitions in French, English and French sign language (LSF), creative workshop tours for adults and families and specially designed free events.

Restaurant:

Located on the western forecourt, opposite the Eiffel Tower and its Square, the Palais Galliera offers its visitors a seasonal catering service, only in summer when the weather permits.
