Discover the singular destiny and work of Artemisia Gentileschi, a 17th-century female painter
The Musée Jacquemart-André is highlighting the talent and originality of Artemisia Gentileschi, a 17th-century Italian painter, in a new exhibition. Trained by her father, Orazio Gentileschi, himself a painter influenced by Caravaggio, she had a singular destiny and was one of the rare female artists of the period to achieve great success during her lifetime. Bringing together some forty works, both well-known and little-known, the exhibition explores the world of the painter, who was renowned for her portraits of women and heroines. On view from 19 March to 3 August 2025.
