Katia Kulawick Assante et la Rédaction Paris je t'aime - Updated on
Family-friendly restaurants: a selection of the best restaurants in Paris where kids and teens can enjoy a fun dining experience.

Finding a restaurant where both kids and adults feel comfortable isn't always easy. Paris is full of family-friendly spots, from express diners to bustling food markets and hotel lunches, offering delicious kids’ menus and spaces for children to run around. Some places even offer immersive experiences that turn mealtimes into a real adventure. Here’s a selection of addresses for a delicious, stress-free meal, no matter how old your kids are

🎯Express restaurants at affordable prices

📌Bouillon

Good, affordable and traditional food is what everyone loves about Bouillon. Established in 1932, this mythical address on Place de la République features dining rooms decorated with wall paintings and Alsace marquetry panels by artist Charles Spindler. Despite the huge size of the restaurant (450 covers at République, 300 at Pigalle), the quality is always there! With an express service, it’s also a treat for the kids as there’s no waiting around for hours! And they’ll always find something they like on the menu: eggs with mayonnaise (€2.50), chicken soup with vermicelli (€2.90), sausage and mashed potatoes (€9.60), side dishes (chips, mashed potatoes), and for dessert, rice pudding with salted caramel (€2.80) or floating island with pink pralines (€3.20). They’ll love the big ‘on tap’ drinks - available in magnum (1.5 litres) or jeroboam (3 litres) sizes - of soda, iced tea, or lemonade to share with the whole group. The large dining rooms can get a bit noisy when the restaurant is full, so don’t worry if your kids get a little rowdy at the table! They can even sing together to celebrate a birthday, a regular occurrence. They’re comfortably seated on the faux leather benches, with extra space to store their belongings. To avoid queuing, it’s best to book online, so you can arrive and go straight into the restaurant.

Open daily from 12 noon to midnight, with continuous service, with or without a booking.

🎯Self-serve buffets

📌Envie Le Banquet

In the heart of the Marais district, the young chef and entrepreneur Eloi Spinnler proposes a delightful ‘all-you-can-eat banquet’ for all ages, seating 148 guests over 500 m², in a festive atmosphere. Guests circulate between themed stands in the large kitchen: bakery, fruit & veg, charcuterie, seafood, cheese, and open kitchen where chefs serve hot meals, on request. The idea is that everyone helps themselves to whatever food they’d like. However, although the food is plentiful, combating waste is also important: portions are pre-cut or easy to serve, and the plates are intentionally small to prevent people from taking more than they can eat. ‘Help yourself to whatever you like, but take only what you can finish,’ advises the chef in the booklet that explains how the restaurant works, lists its producers, and provides a map of the buffets to help you find your way around. The goal: zero waste! Then, everyone gets started: the whole family goes back and forth to the kitchen on the ground floor, where there are more than 60 savoury options, 25 cheeses, and 15 desserts (cannelés, madeleines, rice pudding, chocolate mousse, compote, fresh fruit, brownies, Tarte Tatin, and a sweet sauce bar), all constantly restocked. Among the must-tries: the house-made chicken kebab roasted on a spit and the five varieties of bread by The French Bastards. Kids love serving themselves and choosing what to put on their plate! The friendly staff in the dining room are always available to offer advice if needed. A delightful address for the whole family, some great French artisanal products to discover.

Open daily for lunch and dinner. Lunch menu Monday to Friday (€37). Weekend and evening set menu (€54); special evenings on Friday and Saturday (€59). Brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. Free meal for children under 5. 50% off the kids’ menu for children up to 10 years old.

📍Envie Le Banquet - 148 rue du Temple, Paris 3rd

📌B.O.U.L.O.M.

At B.O.U.L.O.M. (the acronym for ‘Bakery where you can eat’), chef Julien Duboué has created a culinary concept that appeals to children: You enter a bakery-patisserie reminiscent of those once found in villages. At the end of the counter, guests are invited to fill their basket with bread (made from organic heritage wheat varieties that are still ground in a windmill), before stepping into the light and airy restaurant for an all-you-can-eat buffet meal. Hot counters (roast chicken, polenta, stuffed cabbage rolls) and cold counters (terrines, seafood, salads), regional cheeses, a sweet section (profiteroles, éclairs, cakes, tarts) - all to enjoy in any order you like! With high-quality, seasonal produce (oysters from Joël Dupuch, meat from Boucheries Nivernaises, charcuterie from Louis Ospital, etc.), this is an enjoyable experience to share with the family around large wooden communal tables. The all-you-can-eat option is available on weekdays and at weekend brunches. We love the restaurant’s anti-waste policy: if you don’t finish what’s on your plate, you’ll be charged for the leftovers by weight! Highchairs are available for young children.

Open daily for lunch and dinner. Lunch from Monday to Friday (€36) ; dinner (€48). Brunch on Saturdays and Sundays (€58). Children under 12: €1.50 multiplied by their age (for example: €18 for a 12-year-old).

📍B.O.U.L.O.M. - 181 rue Ordener, Paris 18th

🎯The crazy atmosphere of Food Markets

📌La Felicità

In the huge food court managed by the Big Mamma group, all the products are imported directly from Italy! With 8 restaurants (Panificio, Topbun, etc.), 4,500 square metres of space, 9 chefs, and 3 bars, La Felicità is a paradise for Italian food lovers, including kids, as it offers all sorts of perfectly prepared specialties: Roman bakery, Neapolitan wood-fired pizzeria, burrata, fresh pasta, focaccia, smash burgers, a coffee bar, and pastries, etc. Situated in the Halle Freyssinet - which has become Station F - La Felicità is also a lively spot with a daily programme of events (live music, karaoke, partying, etc.). Kids will love the Halle’s former train carriage converted into a dessert and ice-cream bar. The Sunday event ‘Sunday is a Kid Day’ is for young children (ages 3 and up): from 12 noon to 4.30pm , a series of creative workshops, supervised activities, and games are organized. The 4,000 m² Food Market features some twenty street food stalls (Vietnamese, smash burgers, Japanese, Korean, African, etc.), as well as two bars, where everyone can pick and choose to put together their meal. The packed programme of events is constantly updated, with everything from roller disco and comedy clubs to watch parties. 📌L’Hôtel de Crillon, A Rosewood Hotel

Children are also welcome at the palace! Chef Paul Pairet, one of the most influential figures on the international culinary scene and the star host of the TV show ‘Top Chef’ on M6, has concocted ‘Le Petit Crillon’ menu (main course, dessert, and drink; €40), available at the hotel’s Nonos and Comestibles restaurants. The menu features dishes specially suited to children: coquillettes with ham and cheese or grilled salmon, along with homemade treats. For an afternoon snack, the hotel’s pastry chef, Matthieu Carlin, has created a kids’ tea-time menu (€28), a treat served in the Jardin d’Hiver with old-fashioned hot chocolate, fruit juice, a selection of pastries, games, and colouring books.

📍Hôtel de Crillon, A Rosewood Hotel - 10 place de la Concorde, Paris 8th

📌Chouchou Hôtel

On Saturdays and Sundays, the hotel's glass-roofed atrium - a large open space that combines the vibe of a food court with that of a casual outdoor bar - is where Le Chouchou does what it does best: making families feel pampered, with the added bonus of a kids’ club (for ages 3 and up) supervised by a staff member. Everyone gathers around large wooden tables covered with checked tablecloths to tuck into hearty dishes made with 100% French ingredients … just like at home! The weekend’s menu features a single dish to share together that’s always a crowd pleaser: roasted Challans chicken served with oven-roasted confit potatoes and a classic dessert (Tarte Tatin, chocolate cake, crème brûlée). For kids: homemade pasta salad, breaded chicken pieces and chocolate cake … to enjoy at the table with their parents or at the kids’ club, with their friends!

📌La Rôtisserie d’Argent

Every Wednesday, this Parisian bistro, an informal extension of the prestigious restaurant La Tour d’Argent, dresses its tables with red and white checked tablecloths. On the menu, roasted Label Rouge free-range chicken, with gravy, whole garlic cloves, and home-made chips, followed by home-made Tagada strawberry ice cream. Referencing the iconic dish that has earned this gastronomic restaurant its worldwide reputation, children aged 10 and under are treated to a crunchy duck-shaped cookie, crafted by the pastry chef of this Michelin-starred restaurant.

📍La Rôtisserie d’Argent - 19 quai de la Tournelle, Paris 5th

📌La Fontaine Gaillon

On Sunday, it’s brunch for everyone at La Fontaine Gaillon, a well-known Parisian restaurant opened in 1707, featuring a decorative façade with a charming fountain. The ‘Fontaine brunch’ includes fruit juices and hot drinks, a sweet-savoury buffet, plus a choice of a hot dish (Sunday roast chicken, eggs Benedict, vegetarian dish). The kids’ menu includes roast chicken or breaded cod fillet, French fries or vegetables, and a desserts buffet. But the idea is not to spend too much time at the table, because the Chouquette Club’s creative workshops take kids into the realm of Star Wars (face painting and temporary tattoos, making light sabers, games, balloon sculptures …), with the help of activity organizers dressed in costume.

❓Frequently asked questions

Affordable menus, brunches ... where to eat with kids in Paris?

Opt for family-friendly neighbourhoods with play areas and a welcoming atmosphere. Wood-fired pizzas and steamed ravioli are a hit with kids and adults, striking a balance between gourmet dining and simplicity. Also check out café-restaurants like TLM, located along the Petite Ceinture and close to Parc de La Villette - perfect for a fun family outing with ice cream.

What are the best areas in Paris for family-friendly dining?

The Canal Saint-Martin appeals to families with its welcoming terraces and street food addresses catering to all ages. The 11th and 13th arrondissements have plenty of cosy bistros and Asian specialities that young diners love. If you choose a restaurant near the Bois de Vincennes or the banks of the Seine, you can combine your meal with a stroll in the fresh air.

Are there any unusual or themed restaurants for children in Paris?

Some restaurants create unusual settings to delight little ones, such as a restaurant aboard a boat on the Seine or a themed environment. Others offer a dining area equipped with a slide or a hideaway cabin to turn mealtimes into a real adventure. These places often serve generous portions in a fun setting that delight the whole family.

What activities are available for kids during a meal?

Some establishments organize creative workshops and fun activities to keep youngsters occupied. It is advisable to check the days and times of these activities before you go. Play areas with cushions and furniture suitable for very young children also provide a place for them to wait before being served.

Are family-friendly restaurants open on Sunday and public holidays?

Many family-friendly restaurants are open on Sunday and often serve a brunch menu for kids and adults. However, some places are closed on Monday or have reduced opening hours on public holidays. Check opening hours before you go, especially during school holidays.

Highchairs, games for kids ... What equipment and activities to check before booking a restaurant for the family?

To enjoy a stress-free meal, it’s best to find out what facilities the restaurant offers before you go. Check that the restaurant provides highchairs, a changing table, and booster seats for younger children; that there’s a play area or designated space where little ones can keep themselves entertained between courses; and finally, whether there’s a kids’ menu with simple options like ice cream for dessert.

Family restaurants in Paris: is it necessary to book in advance?

Booking is highly recommended, especially at the weekend or at child-friendly restaurants. Be sure to mention the number of children and their ages so the staff can provide a highchair and a suitable menu. For a more family-oriented café or restaurant, a quick call before you arrive is usually enough to secure a table and enjoy a pleasant meal.

How to organize a children’s birthday in a child-friendly restaurant?

Book a private room or a family-friendly area - ideally one with a play area to keep youngsters entertained before the meal. Choose a kid’s party menu that includes cake and drinks and let the staff know it’s a birthday party so they can provide a dedicated service. Some places offer birthday packages.
