Celebrate the New Year on “the most beautiful avenue in the world”! On December 31, 2026, the Champs-Élysées will become the gathering place for Parisians and travelers from around the world for a festive, free evening. Starting at 7 p.m., the avenue will be closed to traffic to welcome the public in an electric atmosphere ahead of the grand finale (a monumental video mapping show, countdown, and fireworks). This year, the event highlights “Paris of the Arts and Ideas,” celebrating a city of culture, creativity, and sports, with special nods to the 70th anniversary of the Paris-Rome sister city partnership and the historic successes of Paris Saint-Germain.
Main entrance: Place de la Concorde. Other entrances are on Montaigne, Matignon, and Franklin D. Roosevelt Avenues.

To enjoy the festivities on 31 December 2026 with peace of mind, here is some essential information you need to know.

📌Practical advice and safety

  • Arrival: the avenue will open at 7pm. We strongly advise arriving early due to the large crowds
  • Equipment: bring warm clothing and rain protection
  • Children: keep a close eye on young children; the use of pushchairs is strongly discouraged
  • Prohibited items: weapons, sharp objects, glass bottles, alcohol, fireworks, helmets, and means of transport (bicycles, scooters). Dogs are not allowed

📌Transport

  • Free travel: public transport is free throughout the Île-de-France region from 5pm on 31 December to noon on 1 January
  • All-night service: several metro lines (1, 2, 4, 6, 9 and 14) and RER lines (A, B, C, D and E) run all night. Please note that not all stations are served
  • Gradual closures: stations close at 2pm (Charles de Gaulle - Étoile, Argentine), at 4pm (Kléber, George V, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Champs-Élysées - Clémenceau, Concorde, Tuileries, Boissière, St-Philippe du Roule, Iéna), at 9pm (Dupleix, Passy) and at 12.10am (Ternes)
  • Night-time reopening: from 1am, the Charles de Gaulle - Étoile, Kléber, George V, Franklin D. Roosevelt and Concorde stations will reopen to ensure passengers can return home
  • Buses and Noctilien: the Noctilien network will be reinforced and adapted according to the traffic restrictions put in place by the Police Headquarters
