Every year at this time, the Christmas lights in Paris are a major attraction for tourists and Parisians. Visitors come from all over the world to admire the streets of Paris decked out in magical colours for the festive season.
Luminous arches, multi-coloured bulbs, incandescent flames and sparkling projections of light splendidly deck out the avenues of the French capital.
More than ever, Paris lives up to its name ‘the 'City of Light'! From November to the beginning of January, the Christmas illuminations on the Avenue des Champs-Elysées, on Avenue Montaigne are switched on each year by a celebrity, in Place Vendôme, the Montmartre district, Bercy Village and in many other places across the city make Paris more magical than ever!
Shops are also getting into the spirit of winter, decked out in their finest colours. The festive decorations on the facades of Parisian department stores (Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche, Galeries Lafayette, Printemps Haussmann, the Samaritaine and the BHV Marais) are attractions in a class of their own!
Not to miss during the festive season: a special 1hr30 night tour aboard a panoramic open-air double-decker bus to admire Paris’s most famous landmarks and attractions, all decked out in Christmas lights and decorations.

At the end of the year, the Christmas lights around Paris bring a joyful atmosphere to the city's streets and squares. From the majestic Avenue des Champs-Elysées to Avenue Montaigne, the dazzling Place Vendôme, Boulevard Haussmann embellished with shimmering decorations on the facades of department stores, the lively districts of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, the Marais and Bercy Village … the atmosphere is warm and festive. Parisian shops are trimmed up with the finest Christmas decorations, and animated shop window displays delight children and adults alike.
Paris’s streets, squares and districts are decked out in beautiful Christmas lights from mid-November to the beginning of January. The Champs-Elysées offers an unforgettable spectacle on 24 and 31 December by keeping the garlands of lights adorning the avenue's trees switched on all night long.
