Featuring an exceptional collection of works by the “Masters of the Poster”, this exhibition highlights the elevation of the poster to the status of art, as described by critic Roger Marx. In exploring the golden age of the illustrated poster, it also examines the rise of consumerism and mass culture, of which these works were both the reflection and the driving force. Drawings, objets d'art, photographs and paintings recreate the vibrant street atmosphere of the “Belle Époque”, a period when posters helped shape the visual identity of the era.
