Discovering Brazilian gastronomy in Paris

Brazilian gastronomy is a journey in itself. In Paris, several restaurants and delis propose a discovery tour of Brazilian flavours.

At Pitanga, chef Alexandre Furtado delights visitors with tapas with a French touch. Just a few steps from metro Vavin, take the family or friends to savour a picanha or grilled ‘costellas’ Brazilian style, like Neymar or Marquinhos, and discover the unique talents of chef Lucas Alvarenga at Concept Chef Brazilian BBQ.

The Barracao is a must for caipirinhas accompanied by typical dishes such as feijoadas, cod acras, moqueca de paixe e de camarao, xinxim de galinha and special Brazilian burgers, etc. Finally, for gourmet Brazilian shopping, head to Brésil Market (Paris 3rd) or Tempero, the Franco-Brazilian bistro of chef Alessandra Montagne (Paris 13th).

Also not to miss: the Galleria Continua Paris, which mixes contemporary art and fine food products, with an amazing selection from Brazil. An original cultural and tasting experience.

Paris is packed with places to party the way you would in Brazil!

A must in Paris, the Favela Chic, rue du Faubourg du Temple, is an invitation to sample festive and colourful Brazilian cuisine, while enjoying the caliente dance floor.

Another hot spot for Parisian nightlife is the Brasil Tropical, the biggest Brazilian cabaret in Paris, famous for its dinner shows and revue taken straight from the Rio carnival! Spend an evening discovering the Amazon and try your hand at lambada and capoeira at Pau Brasil, just off the Champs-Élysées.

For a memorable evening with a Brazilian vibe, Maria Loca, the first cachaceria in Paris, is also an excellent choice! Not forgetting the Bateau Phare - which reopened after a six-year absence - offering ‘Alegria Brazilia’ after-work aperitif parties and clubbing on Thursdays from 6pm to 1am.

Rue des Fossés Saint-Jacques, the Portuguese and Brazilian bookshop, founded by Michel Chandeigne, is a unique space in France offering a complete range of specialist literature on Portugal, Brazil and Portuguese-speaking Africa.

Would you like to discover the creations of the father of Brazilian design? Then head to Triode Design, in the 6th arrondissement of Paris, where the collections of Sergio Rodrigues, heir to Brazilian architectural modernism, are being reissued.

Paris is also full of renowned schools and courses for learning samba and capoeira. Voted best samba school in Paris since 2016, Davina Samba offers online courses as well as in-person classes.

Until September 2025, for the period of Brazil-France 2025 season, at the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris - better known under the name of Cité U - the Maison du Brésil, designed by architects Lucio Costa and Le Corbusier, invites residents and visitors to a series of academic, cultural and festive events. To discover this emblematic place in a different way, the Centre du patrimoine de la Cité internationale offers guided tours focusing on the history, architecture and cultural diversity of this unique campus.

And if you want to learn or improve your knowledge of the Portuguese language, the Institut Franco-Brésilien alter'brasilis, a cultural centre in Paris's 3rd arrondissement, offers Brazilian Portuguese courses, for individuals or groups, in a friendly environment.

To explore Paris in a different way why not take a bike tour on cosmopolitan Paris ? An original and immersive experience, designed by Paris je t’aime, which has won an award for this initiative. From April to September in France then from August to December in Brazil, the Brazil-France 2025 season invites you to explore the richness of Brazilian culture through a series of exceptional events notably in the French capital. From contemporary art to festivals, gastronomy and nightlife, immerse yourself in Brazilian culture in Paris.

Key events of the Brazil-France 2025 season

Highlights for this cultural season: Lucas Arruda ‘Qu’importe le paysage’ at the Musée d’Orsay - from 8 April to 20 July 2025 - is the first monographic exhibition at a French museum to be devoted to this emblematic figure of Brazil’s contemporary art scene. From 13 May to 8 June 2025, a dialogue between Brazilian architecture, art and design unfolds at the Fondation Le Corbusier, Maison La Roche, with the event ABERTO4. Head over to the Bourse du Commerce - Pinault Collection for the personal exhibition ‘Tisser l’espace’ (‘Weaving space’) by Lygia Pape, a major figure of Brazilian avant-garde. The event runs from 10 September 2025 to 23 February 2026! The Amazon is in the spotlight at the Musée du Quai Branly - Jacques Chirac from 30 September 2025 to 18 January 2026, with the first exhibition focusing on indigenous peoples. It brings together over 200 objects from the museum's collections and private collections.

From 7 June 2025, and until the end of the summer, Laura Lima is at the Panthéon with a monumental installation questioning the place of the living in art. Over at the Grand Palais, the public are invited to discover the majestic sensory installation Nosso Barco Tambor Terra by Ernesto Neto, from 6 June to 25 July 2025, accompanied by an opening concert on 8 June 2025.

On 6 July 2025, the avenue des Champs-Élysées and avenue Winston Churchill will be in celebration mode for the Carnaval Tropical de Paris, featuring a Brazilian parade on the theme ‘Amazons’ which should also wind its way along the banks of the Seine, the Bridge Alexandre III and through the public areas of the Grand and Petit Palais. The day before, on 5 July 2025, the Grand Palais - as part of the Grand Palais d'Été - is organizing a big Brazilian ball with artists and dancers from Rio. With music, dance and culinary delights to sample, the public can look forward to a festive evening with a carnival atmosphere.

As part of the 2025 France-Brazil Season, three evenings of open-air cinema in the colours of Brazil await you on the Quai des Célestins, on the banks of the Seine, starting at 8.15pm:

  • 31 July: Île aux Fleurs (8.15pm) and Saneamento Básico (8.30pm)
  • 1 August: Monte le son, c’est du rock (8.30pm)
  • 2 August: Barbosa (8.15pm) and Central do Brasil (8.30pm)
    These free screenings are a great way to discover the richness of Brazilian cinema in the heart of Paris.

Another highlight of the season, the Washing of the Madeleine - inspired by the Washing of Bonfim in the Brazilian city of Salvador de Bahia – is a great way to discover Brazilian culture, tourism and Brazilian gastronomy. From 9 to 14 September 2025!

Finally, the festival will be in full swing at the Carreau du Temple where the festival Food Temple Brasil showcases the gastronomy and cuisines of Brazil, in a wonderful spirit of sharing!

Other Brazilian themed festivals and events

As well as key events, the Brazil-France 2025 season features in several not-to-miss festivals and events, like the Festival d’Automne which brings together 80 international contemporary artistic projects (Lia Rodrigues, Casa de Povo, Carolina Nianchi, Ancora Kalil, …) between September and December 2025.

Throughout July 2025, the Festival Paris l’Été dance programme - Lia Rodrigues in the Tuileries Gardens from 15 to 17 July 2025 - performances - Nina Guzzo in the Tuileries Gardens and at 19M, between 19 and 25 July 2025 - ‘danced theatre’ with Marcio Abreu at the Fondation Fiminco in Romainville, from 25 to 30 July 2025 or the moving photo exhibition, accompanied by performances, open-air events and drag shows, Kwir Nou Éxist presented outdoors in the Tuileries Garden from 15 to 25 July 2025.

Paris Plages a top summer event will be in the colours of Brazil from 5 July to 31 August 2025. A great opportunity to enjoy many special events and activities, outdoor cinema evenings and take part in workshops, all for free.

For the evening of 12 July 2025, the Festival Peacok Society is the hub of Brazil's underground scene with Badsista, a DJ all the way from São Paulo. And to expand your music culture, head to the Musée de la musique de la Philharmonie de Paris which, until 26 June 2025, explores the origins of Brazilian popular music and its development to the present day.

Not forgetting cinema! The 27th Festival du Cinéma Brésilien de Paris, at the Arlequin cinema from 29 April to 6 May 2025, offers a cutting-edge selection of documentaries and fiction. At Saint-Denis, the Festival Regards Satellites joins Mostra de cinéma de Tiradentes to showcase contemporary Brazilian culture.

In the 20th arrondissement of Paris, the Festival Village Borrégo celebrates 200 years of friendship between France and Brazil for a whole week, from 22 to 28 June 2025, with exhibitions, talks, fun and educational workshops, concerts... not to mention the opening day on Sunday 22 June 2025 from 10am to 8pm, when people of all ages can dance to the sounds of Batucada and music formations with amplified sound ...! A Kids Day is already scheduled for Wednesday 25 June 2025, from 1pm to 5pm.

For a different way of discovering Brazil, the Colors Festival at Champigny-sur-Marne offers a completely different immersive and artistic experience, to enjoy with friends or family. Curated by artist Farid Rueda, this exhibition plunges visitors into the heart of the cultures, traditions and colours of South America, and in particular the street art of São Paulo.

Finally, Vivatech, Europe's biggest tech fair, is set to welcome some of the most innovative and dynamic Brazilian start-ups of the moment, in fields as varied as artificial intelligence, biotechnology and education. From 11 to 14 June 2025, at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles.

Among the events not to be missed, the Mondes en commun festival at the Albert-Kahn Departmental Museum in Boulogne-Billancourt will honour two Brazilian photographers in 2025: Luiz Braga and Pedro David. Through their sensitive perspectives on landscapes and everyday life in Brazil, they invite visitors to engage in a poetic reflection on memory, territories and humanity.
