De la rue de Sévigné à la place de la Concorde - 75001 Paris
Bastille, Châtelet - Les Halles, Le Marais, Louvre, Notre-Dame - Île Saint-Louis
Rue de Rivoli is one of Paris's most famous thoroughfares. Laid out under Napoleon I and named in memory of the victory of Rivoli (1797), it stretches from Place de la Concorde to Rue de Sévigné in the Marais district. Almost 3 km long, it is now one of the capital's most emblematic and busiest streets. Above all, it's a must-see shopping destination, with its long arcades housing international names, department stores and popular boutiques. But Rue de Rivoli is also a melting pot of history and culture: it runs alongside the Louvre, the Tuileries Gardens, Place Vendôme, the Palais Royal and its gardens, and the Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain, a major cultural and architectural space designed by Jean Nouvel. Further on, it crosses the Hôtel de Ville district and the BHV Marais, to reach the historic Marais and its museums. Between iconic monuments, prestigious museums, institutions and shops, rue de Rivoli embodies both the Paris of heritage and contemporary Paris. An ideal stroll through shopping, culture and history.
