Marais, hip fashion wear

Trendy design and fashion-designer boutiques … A shopping outing in an avant-garde district.

The trendy design and fashion-designer boutiques in the district have given the Marais its avant-garde reputation. It is a pleasant place to stroll around. Several main streets such as the rue des Rosiers are pedestrianized whilst the rue des Francs-Bourgeois and rue du Temple are closed to motorized traffic on Sunday.

The Marais is full of fashion shops: .Kate Lee, COS, The Hideout Clothing, Eleven Paris, Erotokritos, Matières à réflexion, etc. The rock and trendy clothes brand The Kooples has opened a new concept, The Kooples Sport, near to Place des Vosges.

Skincare and perfume shops have sprung up in the district: after the cosmetics brand Kiehl's and make-up brand MAC, the french boutique of Italian perfume maker Acqua di Parma in rue des Francs-Bourgeois. Also in the same street are perfume makers’ shops Diptyque, Guerlain and Jo Malone.

In recent years especially, the Haut Marais has seen the arrival of major ready-to-wear fashion brands, including Sandro and the designer Stella Cadente, on boulevard Beaumarchais. The fair-trade concept store Merci sells clothes, decorative objects and has two catering areas.

The Bonton brand, specializing in clothes for children, has opened a concept store especially devoted to kids: gifts, accessories, fashion, as well as a hairdresser.

The year 2013 saw the appearance of several new shops like Forever 21, the American ready-to-wear on rue de Rivoli and the concept store and cafe the Broken Arm which stocks designer clothing and accessories.
