At the Jardin des Plantes, creatures large and small live together in harmony.
Come and meet some new animal friends at the world’s second oldest zoo, open since 1794. Each building in the Ménagerie showcases a different architectural style; from cozy log cabins to grand Art Deco constructions of the 20s and 30s, this unique heritage enriches the lush green haven of the zoo.
Today, the Ménagerie in the heart of Paris is home to over 1,200 animals, many of which belong to endangered species.
Among these species facing the threat of extinction are different creatures of all sizes; try and catch a glimpse of our red pandas, our snow leopard and even our white-naped crane! Take an unusual and surprising trip around our wild world in the heart of Paris and meet the 80 keepers who look after the animals every day.
This year, put yourself in the shoes of a paleontologist and let yourself be surprised by the fascinating biodiversity of the Jurassic period as you follow a luminous nocturnal trail through the paths of the Jardin des Plantes.
For fans of Jurassic Park, a myth has been shattered: in the Jurassic era, there were no T. rexes or Triceratops, no flowers and no grass! This new edition of the Jardin des Plantes' not-to-be-missed nocturnal stroll reveals the Jurassic as described in recent scientific publications: an era when oceans teemed with life, dinosaurs made landfall and the first birds appeared.
From deep oceans populated by giant marine reptiles to verdant valleys dominated by dinosaurs, explore 5 paleoenvironments and discover the species that once inhabited our planet.
Thanks to monumental illuminated sculptures, some of which are animated, the not-to-be-missed nocturnal walk features emblematic species such as plesiosaurs, archaeopteryx and ammonites.
