Three new venues are set to make headlines in Paris: La Pointe des Arts, opening on 17 October 2026, will be a contemporary art centre with unique architecture, situated on Île Seguin, resembling an ocean liner on the Seine. The Palais de la Découverte will reopen on 15 April 2027 following a complete refurbishment, thereby enhancing the cultural offering on the Avenue des Champs-Élysées.
Finally, in the summer of 2027, Summit Paris will open an immersive observatory at the top of the Triangle Tower, a poetic and spectacular venue offering panoramic views of Paris.
On the cultural front, major exhibitions in Paris will be in the news all year round, ranging from the great classics to the world of modern and contemporary art.
The most eagerly awaited exhibition is the one dedicated to Cézanne and his artistic legacy, at the Grand Palais (3 September 2026 – 17 January 2027): 180 major works, many of which come from the Centre Pompidou’s collection whilst the centre is undergoing renovation.
To mark the 20th anniversary of Sofia Coppola’s cult film, the château de Versailles is celebrating it with “Marie Antoinette” by Sofia Coppola", a unique exhibition at the Petit Trianon (22 September 2026 - 24 January 2027). Original costumes, props, and behind-the-scenes materials take visitors behind the scenes of this iconic film, which has left a lasting mark on the contemporary imagination.
The other flagship exhibition of the season will be that of Gustave Fayet’s extraordinary collection, which will be brought together at the Fondation Louis Vuitton (9 October 2026 – 8 March 2027): previously unseen groups of paintings by Van Gogh, Gauguin, Redon, Degas, Cézanne, Toulouse-Lautrec, Renoir, Morisot, Signac, Bonnard, Vuillard and Matisse. Extraordinary!
Meanwhile, the Italian artist Tintoretto will be featured at the Musée Jacquemart-André (11 September 2026 – 24 January 2027), whilst the Musée du Luxembourg has chosen to shine the spotlight on Andy Warhol (16 September 2026 – 10 January 2027) and then on the painter Marie Laurencin (March – July 2027); another painter will be celebrated at the Petit Palais, the Impressionist Eva Gonzalès (15 September 2026 – 24 January 2027), and yet another with the Surrealist Leonor Fini at the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris (26 March – 15 August 2027). Meanwhile, the Fauvist André Derain will be on display at the Musée Bourdelle (1 April – 1 August 2027).
Finally, the Bourse de Commerce has chosen to mark the bicentenary of photography with an exhibition of 700 works by 70 artists (from 7 October 2026).
Throughout the year, in 2026 and 2027, Paris will host exhibitions on a variety of themes, which can easily be combined with professional events to bring them to life. Among the highlights of the upcoming season is an exhibition on weddings at the Arab World Institute (29 September 2026 – 28 February 2027), and an immersive exhibition exploring the underwater world from antiquity to the present day at the National Maritime Museum (14 October 2026 – 14 February 2027); Finally, at the Philharmonie de Paris, the legendary singer Billie Holiday will kick off 2027 (22 January – 11 July) with a highly anticipated exhibition combining visuals and sound.
Following two exceptional years for Paris, sport remains at the heart of the programme with brand-new events, such as the EWC – Esports World Cup, which is coming to Paris this summer for its first edition outside Saudi Arabia, from 6 July to 23 August 2026. This edition, which will take place at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles (Viparis), is also planning an iconic opening ceremony at La Seine Musicale, featuring headliners such as Aya Nakamura, Theodora and DJ Snake.
The very first NFL regular-season match, in which star players will set the Stade de France alight, will take place on 25 October 2026; it will be preceded by a week of American football-themed events in the heart of Paris, celebrating the New Orleans Saints and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Louisiana will send its other superstars to Paris on 14 January 2027 at the Accor Arena for the annual NBA match, which will see the New Orleans Pelicans take on the formidable San Antonio Spurs.
Another sporting highlight in Paris is the brand-new Rugby Nations Championship, which has chosen the Stade de France to host matches on 13 and 21 November 2026; followed by the Six Nations Championship, which will also be held at the Stade de France on 6 and 21 February 2027.
The major annual events are all already eagerly anticipated, starting with the Paris Marathon, which will celebrate its 50th edition in 2027 (11 April), followed by the French Open tennis tournament (17 May – 6 June 2027) and the finish of the Tour de France (25 July 2027).
