Sporting and leisure activities

Greater Paris has many green spaces where you can play your favourite sport

You can enjoy a variety of sporting activities in any of the green spaces in Greater Paris. If you’re in the mood for a serious workout, take your pick from an array of free sports facilities at different parks, depending on what you feel like doing: cycle paths, football pitches, tennis courts, golf courses, fitness trails, waymarked hiking paths, ping-pong tables, boules pitches, skate parks and water sports centres.Runners have plenty of choice, as all the green spaces, riverbanks and towpaths in Greater Paris are possible routes. Get your running shoes on and hit the trail!

If you prefer to work out with a qualified instructor, that’s possible too. A number of fitness activities are organized in Greater Paris parks and gardens throughout the year. These include Sunday morning sport sessions in some of the capital’s green spaces: e.g. the Jardin du Luxembourg (6th), Parc André Citröen (15th) and the Parc Rives de Seine.

In western Paris, as part of the ‘Parcs courons dans les Hauts-de-Seine’ initiative, free fitness lessons are offered every weekend from June to September in many green spaces in the Hauts-de-Seine département, such as the Parc départemental de l’Île Saint-Germain in Issy-les-Moulineaux, the Parc départemental des Chanteraines in Villeneuve-la-Garenne and the Domaine départemental de Sceaux.

And if you enjoy dancing, you’ll be glad to hear that the Jardin Tino-Rossi on Quai Saint-Bernard turns into a giant outdoor dance floor on some weekday evenings in summertime.
