You can start enjoying gastronomy at any age! Today, numerous restaurants propose menus that have been carefully put together to awaken the taste buds of novice gourmets.
A good opportunity to discover some of the best restaurants in Paris. On the programme, starred restaurants, historic establishments, legendary brasseries and unusual places!
Most of these menus are reserved for children aged up to 10 or even 12. Check with the restaurant in advance.
And for those big occasions, don’t hesitate to book a table at a top restaurant. Several starred establishments provide children’s menus. Guy Savoy is one of the first to have created a menu especially for children; the menu ‘Découverte des saveurs’, in his former Parisian restaurant Le Cap Vernet. According to him, good cooking should be learned from an early age. For the anecdote, it is Guy Savoy who lends his voice to Horst in the French version of the animated film Ratatouille.
At the Four Seasons Hotel George V, the three-starred restaurant Le Cinq of chef Christian Le Squer has put together the menu des ‘triplés’, mise en scène by Nicole Lambert, the designer of the three little characters.
Under the aegis of starred chef Stéphanie Le Quellec, winner of Top Chef 2011, the restaurant La Scène offers the ‘Menu des princes et princesses’, which clients put together by choosing from a selection of à la carte dishes – a nice way of awakening the taste buds of little gourmets.
And, children are regaled at the very chic Le Bristol hotel! Starred chef Eric Frechon of the 114, Faubourg came up with the idea of a delicious ‘Hippolyte’ menu (the name of the hotel’s rabbit mascot) adapted to the palace’.
At Drouant, the restaurant of chef Romain Van Thienen, the 15-euro children’s menu offers a tasty and healthy menu that appeals to kids by offering a variety of textures and tastes: fruit and vegetable cocktail, hors d’oeuvres, colourful sorbets, etc. The restaurant is also a reference for culture as it has hosted the Goncourt awards since 1914! An opportunity to introduce children to the literary world.

Why not enjoy a family meal at one of the historic restaurants or legendary brasseries that have made traditional French cuisine so famous? These places full of history have wonderful decor – some are listed monuments–, and they serve great food!
Among the cult brasseries is the famous Coupole at Montparnasse, a gem of art deco, listed on the registry of historic monuments. The cuisine features traditional brasserie food, including Indian style curry with ‘Label Rouge’ lamb, on the menu since 1927! As for children, they will love the menu specially adapted for them.
Just opposite Saint-Lazare, the legendary Brasserie Mollard is one of the oldest in Paris. Opened in 1895, the establishment is also listed as a historic monument. In a lavish 1900s decor, diners feast on fish and shellfish, notably the delicious bouillabaisse with fillets of rockfish. For children, there is a menu at 10 euros.
Staying with the railway atmosphere, destination the first floor of the Gare de Lyon at the Train Bleu. Here too, the fully-renovated belle époque and neo-baroque decor is impressive. Of note, the children’s menu proposes half-portion dishes from the standard menu. That is another good reason for choosing the house speciality: roasted leg of French lamb, served in slices.
Opposite the Gare du Nord, Le Terminus Nord is popular with travellers who come here to enjoy the famous house saueurkraut. Children have their own menu to choose from.
Among other mythical establishments in Paris with menus for children are: the Gallopin and its menu ‘Pas pour les grands’ (‘not for grown-ups) and the Alsatian brasserie Bofinger.
At the Au Pied de Cochon, a veritable Parisian institution, pork is cooked in all different ways, with for example the famous ‘Tentation de Saint-Antoine’ (a dish composed entirely of pork) as well as the traditional soupe à l’oignon gratinée one of the best in Paris. There is also a special children’s menu.
Renowned for its famous traditional pot-au-fe and os à moelle, Chez Clément has put together various menus, including the gastronomic ‘le P’tit Clément’ which offers the best of French traditional cooking with, among other delights, ravioles du Dauphiné (Label rouge) gratinées au parmesan or confit de canard with purée de pommes de terre maison.
Chez Françoise is a restaurant that seeks to offer traditional, elegant and refined French cuisine. In addition to dishes for children, little-ones can enjoy a fun lunch with a make-up artist and children’s activity leader, every Sunday. So, parents can relax, and the kids are entertained!

To dine with a panoramic view of Paris, head to the restaurant Madame Brasserie, on the first floor of the Eiffel Tower. The opportunity to discover the newly redesigned first floor with its spectacular glass flooring. In terms of food, light and fun lunches are served picnic basket-style, and there is also a special version for children. In the evening, the atmosphere is more chic and the food gastronomic. Children can enjoy a gourmet menu elaborated by chef Thierry Marx.
Feel like a gourmet and bucolic meal with the family away from the busy city? Le Châlet des Iles welcomes you on an island on the Lac inférieur in the Bois de Boulogne. To get to the restaurant, you take a little ‘ferry’ boat. Children love it! The menu offers traditional cooking, and for children, there is the ‘Menu de l’Ile aux enfants’.
Why not combine gastronomy and culture? You can do this in the sumptuous setting of the Restaurant du Musée d’Orsay, situated on the first floor of the museum. As well as the great classics, chef Yann Landureau proposes original dishes linked to what is happening at the museum, plus, there is a menu for children. It is a great place to enjoy good food after an exhibition. On Thursday evening, you can take advantage of a special package including a visit to the museum and dinner.
And for a real change of scene, why not embark for a dinner cruise on the Seine? Children adore them and several companies offer children’s menus: the Bateaux-Mouches, the Capitaine Fracasse, the Bateaux Parisiens and its Petit matelot menu, Paris en Scène, etc.
Finally, for an original and musical evening out with the family, the Bel Canto is the restaurant to go to. Young music fans can take advantage of a children’s menu elaborated by the chef Eric Léautey and served by opera singers. A gourmet way of discovering opera!
Young ‘sailors’ go to the seafood brasserie Bar à huîtres. At this restaurant in Montparnasse, the setting is reminiscent of a beautiful Cap-Ferret wooden cabin. The menu features the best in seafood, and children have their menu ‘Pirate des Caraïbes’. The menu is on an iPad so they are sure to have fun!
