It’s not always easy to take an interest in art, and even less so to appreciate contemporary art … To understand it better, you have to start early! Here is a selection of kid-friendly museums, exhibitions and workshops in Paris.
Every Wednesday at the recently renovated Hôtel Salé, children and their parents can enjoy the Musée Picasso’s themed activities together: "Dans la peau de", a role play game inspired by the characters in the artist’s paintings, or "Jeu d’apparences", where they are invited to investigate a work of art.
There are also tours and workshops on Saturday and "Picasso et Cie". There will also be a showing of lovely animated film "Le Tableau", after a tour entitled ‘De l’esquisse au tableau’. In French only.

As well as family guided tours on Saturdays, there are creative workshops for children on current exhibitions on Wednesday and Saturday. Until 24 February 2015, Ballade pour une boîte en verre and Les habitants stimulate children’s senses through the exploration of an architectural installation and a pictorial and sound space. A fantastical universe that children reproduce by creating models.

The success of the 104 comes from knowing how to cater to different audiences. Young children haven’t been forgotten, as can be seen from the House for Children, which offers art activities for children under 5 all year round.
Talks, workshops, encounters with artists … A world of culture for children to experience, accompanied by their parents, in this free space.

This new Parisian cultural venue, opened in October 2014, is dedicated to contemporary art. It is careful to target all kinds of audiences, and children are no exception with workshops and tours to familiarize children with art and develop their creativity.
"Exploration Contée" or "Plongée dans la matière", two ways of getting to grips with contemporary art and exploring this extraordinary place.

From 18 February to 17 May 2015, "Le bord des mondes" (At the Edge of the Worlds) will explore the many fields of artistic creation with Théo Jansen’s giant creatures, Carlos Espinosa’s cloud traps and Kenji Kawakami’s Chindogu (‘unuseless’ objects). Young children will be crazy about contemporary art after being plunged into this world thanks to ‘Tok Tok’ workshops and stories. Not forgetting, family tours, to get right up close to the art.

The retrospective of the kitsch works of Jeff Koons is the ideal chance to get children interested in contemporary art.
As well as guided tours (Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday), workshops on Saturday and Sunday explore 2 themes: at "Hop hop hop", young art explorers build an installation out of the aluminium balloons favoured by the artist, while at "Wonderland!" they can create a weird and wonderful world of giants.
