A ROMANTIC GIFT FOR THE WOMAN IN YOUR LIFE

A perfume ?

Indeed, for many people, smell and perfume play a distinctive part in games of seduction.

L'Artisan parfumeur offers a range of pure perfume creations inspired by nature, evocative scents and personal emotions.

A unique perfume for a unique person. To ensure that no one wears the same perfume, some perfumers offer bespoke creations. But patience is required as finding the perfume to suit you is not to be rushed. For example, Studio des Parfums, Parfum sur mesure, and Ateliers des Parfums Candora.

Some jewellery?

If you really want to sweep your partner off their feet, head for place Vendôme, the epicentre of high jewellery in Paris. Luxury brands, including Chaumet, Boucheron, Cartier, Bulgari and Mauboussin, showcase their creations in this grandiose setting built by Louis XIV.

Many of these high-end jewellers offer a bespoke service – jewellery specially designed for him or her. Oggi’s designer, Murielle, has been making each piece of jewellery a work of art for 30 years.

If you’re looking for custom-made jewellery, head for Ateliers du Palais, who make bespoke creations. Bring along your ideas – they’ll be happy to advise you. Forms, materials, stones – the possibilities are endless!

Leather goods?

You’re in the right place for these too. Paris is the fashion and luxury capital, and its shop windows will make your lover’s eyes light up. Longchamp and Louis Vuitton, the two best-known French luxury leather goods brands, have outlets on the Champs-Élysées. An opportunity for a stroll down this beautiful avenue.

Another place for luxury leather goods is the ground floor of the Galeries Lafayette – you’ll certainly find something here that’s just right for you.

A candle?

A simple, elegant gift that’s guaranteed to please. Paris perfume house Diptyque has been making its scented candles (featuring berries, fig, woodsmoke, lavender, and other unusual scents) for 60 years now. Fragonard, the famous perfumer based in Grasse, offers scented candle versions of its fragrances.

For a two-in-one gift, My Jolie Candle makes candles containing a piece of jewellery.

And if you’re looking for unusual scents, Maison La Bougie’s scented candles evoke Miami, Venice or the Trocadero.

A ROMANTIC GIFT FOR THE MAN IN YOUR LIFE

A watch?

If you want to treat him (or yourself) to a famous name watch, you’ll find luxury brands such as Cartier, Rolex, and Breguet on place Vendôme. Paris has other high-end addresses too, like Bucherer on boulevard des Capucines, or Montblanc on the Champs-Élysées.

A tailor-made suit?

Here’s an idea for a romantic gift for your man: a fitting session for a made-to-measure suit. Surprise him by taking him to Capelstore on boulevard Malesherbes, La Maison de l’Homme (several shops in Paris) or Maison Blandin & Delloye, which also has several outlets in Paris proposing tailor-made suits and shirts.

Next stop, Comptoir de l'Homme in Saint-Germain des Prés, which specialises exclusively in men’s cosmetics.

ROMANTIC GIFTS TO ENJOY TOGETHER

The perfect romantic gift for lovers of good food and fine wines: a candlelit dinner at one of the city’s top restaurants.

Depending on your budget, choose from the numerous Parisian establishments that have been awarded one, two or three stars by the world-famous Michelin guide.

For a three-star dinner, options include the Pré Catelan in the heart of the Bois de Boulogne, Yannick Alléno’s Pavillon Ledoyen, and Restaurant Guy Savoy in the Monnaie de Paris.

For a more accessible two-star dinner, try La Scène (chef Stéphanie Le Quellec), Le Taillevent, or Le Grand Restaurant (chef Jean-François Piège).

For a gift to enjoy together, how about a massage?

© Christophe Bielsa

Numerous spas and beauty salons propose formulas for couples who want to enjoy a relaxing treatment together.

Villa Thalgo proposes a treatment for two which includes a massage and face care treatment in a double booth as well as access to the marine hammam.

At Spa Dans le Noir, the “Je t’aime” formula includes a massage for two (there’s a choice of duration) and access to the hammam. A unique experience – all treatments are dispensed in near-total darkness by blind or visually impaired professionals.

A gift card for the theatre

There’s also plenty to choose from if you’d like to offer your partner an evening at the theatre. Paris has over a hundred theatres, many of which – including Théâtre Fontaine, Théâtre de la Madeleine and Théâtre Édouard VII – sell gift cards or gift vouchers.

Alternatively, you can buy a Paris Spectacles card and top it up with the amount you choose. You can then use the card to book tickets for shows in participating Parisian theatres: Bobino, Théâtre Antoine, Théâtre Libre, Scène Libre, Point Virgule and Grand Point Virgule.
