JR transforms the Pont Neuf into a monumental grotto, a tribute to Christo and Jeanne-Claude. The bridge becomes a quarry again

June 2026 sees a spectacular, immersive installation by artist JR on the Pont Neuf! The oldest stone bridge in Paris will be transformed into a monumental ephemeral work of art. This creation, entitled La Caverne du Pont Neuf, is a vibrant tribute to the historic packaging created by Christo and Jeanne-Claude, "The Pont Neuf Wrapped", whose 40th anniversary is being celebrated. Today, JR is inspired by this bold artistic vision and the monument's history. He draws his vision from the Lutetian limestone quarries that were used to build the bridge and many other buildings in Paris. The installation transforms the Pont Neuf into a monumental grotto, creating a striking dialogue between the raw, the wild, and the refined elegance of Paris. The work is accessible to the public free of charge. You can walk across or under it on a Seine cruise or from the banks of the Seine. Visible day and night, it promises an unparalleled visual experience that's a must-see for the late spring and early summer of 2026!
Open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Open until 8pm on the final day, 28 June 2026. Closed between 9.30pm and 10.30pm on 25 June 2026 (official visit).

🎾JR designs the poster for Roland-Garros 2026

As well as his installation at the Pont Neuf, JR is making his mark on the sporting news this June. The artist has been chosen to create the official poster for the Roland-Garros tournament.

This original work creates a dialogue between the ochre texture of the clay court and his famous black-and-white gaze, forming a visual bridge with the mineral hues of his Caverne. Find all the details of this collaboration and our exclusive interview in the article dedicated to La Caverne du Pont Neuf by JR.
