JR's installation honours the artist couple Christo and Jeanne-Claude, both born on the same day, 13 June 1935. The year 2025 celebrated several major anniversaries related to their legacy:
As well as his installation at the Pont Neuf, JR is making his mark on the sporting news this June. The artist has been chosen to create the official poster for the Roland-Garros tournament.
This original work creates a dialogue between the ochre texture of the clay court and his famous black-and-white gaze, forming a visual bridge with the mineral hues of his Caverne. Find all the details of this collaboration and our exclusive interview in the article dedicated to La Caverne du Pont Neuf by JR.
Just opposite the pedestrian exit from the bridge, extend the experience at La Samaritaine (9 Rue de la Monnaie, Paris 1st arrondissement). From 23 May to 28 June 2026, the department store is hosting “La Caverne Souvenirs”, a cultural pop-up entirely dedicated to the project.
On the programme in this immersive space (open daily from 10am to 8pm):
Alongside the installation on the river, discover the exclusive items and events created especially to complement the project:
To enjoy the artwork without any hassle, please note that the layout of the neighbourhood will change during the summer of 2026. Between 11 May and 5 June 2026, as well as during dismantling until 13 July 2026, the Pont Neuf will be completely closed to all traffic (including pedestrians, cyclists and cars) between the Quai du Louvre and the Place du Pont-Neuf-Christo-et-Jeanne-Claude.
During the exhibition :
Regarding public transport: between 11 May and 13 July 2026, the routes of buses 27, 58 and 70 will be diverted via Boulevard du Palais; meanwhile, the Pont Neuf (L7) will remain open, despite the closure of exits 2 and 3 during the event.

Before or after your immersion in JR's La Caverne du Pont Neuf, extend your journey to the heart of Paris. The Pont Neuf, the oldest stone bridge in the capital, is the ideal starting point for exploring the Île de la Cité and its surroundings. After seeing the bridge transformed into a monumental cave, discover the gems that surround it, right above the Seine: stroll through the charming Place Dauphine and enjoy the Square du Vert-Galant for a romantic break. History unfolds on the other side of the bridge with the Conciergerie and the Sainte-Chapelle, while the Samaritaine invites you to discover its architecture and shops. Finally, don't miss crossing the Pont des Arts or greeting the famous bouquinistes.
The neighbourhood is also a prime gastronomic destination for foodies: prestigious restaurants such as Restaurant Guy Savoy - Monnaie de Paris and Ze Kitchen Galerie offer unforgettable culinary experiences, perfect for rounding off a day dedicated to art!
