Almost all of the competition venues - with the exception of the Arena Paris Nord in Villepinte - and celebration sites are safely accessible thanks to a Olympic cycle network of almost 400 km. 1. Where to hire my bike in Paris ?

More than 50,000 bikes are available for hire from Vélib' Métropole', Lime, Dott and the many other rental companies in Paris.

Vélib' Métropole

The Vélib' self-service bicycle network offers more than 21,000 bicycles for hire, 40% of which are electrically assisted.

Lime and Dott electric self-service bikes

A total of 30,000 bikes are available for hire from these operators, who are also present in other European cities.

Parisian bike hire companies

Parisian bike hire companies offer more than 5,000 bikes for hire. Electric or mechanical, individual, with or without child seat, tandem, cargo, longtail or adapted bikes, you're bound to find what you're looking for!

4. Where can I park my bike in Paris?

Bike parking facilities for the Paris 2024 Games

20,000 guarded cycle parking spaces will be available so that you can enjoy the Games by bike with complete peace of mind. These car parks will be open to individual and self-service bicycles (Lime and Dott). Vélib' users will benefit from special car parks.

    Please note: electric bicycle batteries and helmets are not permitted on the competition sites.

Vélib' car parks

For the Olympic and Paralympic Games, Vélib' is setting up temporary stations in the immediate vicinity of the competition and celebration sites, in addition to the existing stations!

14 stations will be in operation, providing a total of 3,600 spaces:
Colombes: Yves-du-Manoir stadium, 300 places (only available for the Olympic Games)
Nanterre: Paris La Défense Arena, 200 seats (only available for the Olympic Games)
Saint-Denis: Stade de France, two stations with a total of 800 seats

Paris :

  • Roland-Garros Stadium: 400 seats
  • Parc des Princes: 400 seats
  • Tour Eiffel/Trocadéro/Champ-de-Mars: 2 stations for a total of 400 seats
  • Grand Palais/Concorde/Invalides/Alexandre-III bridge: 3 stations for a total of 600 seats
  • Arena Porte de La Chapelle: 200 seats
  • Bercy Arena: 200 seats
  • Arena Paris Sud: 200 spaces

Accommodation with the Accueil Vélo label

The Accueil Vélo label certifies the quality of the welcome reserved for cyclists, which means that they have a secure cycle parking area and guarantee quality services and facilities adapted to the needs of cycling tourists. See the list of approved establishments in Paris below.

The Warmshowers network

Warmshowers is an international network of over 100,000 cyclists worldwide. It connects cyclists on a cycling trip with cycling hosts offering accommodation and a hot shower, free of charge!

5. What are the safety perimeters?

During the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, safety perimeters will be set up in the immediate vicinity of the competition venues. Cyclists, unlike motorists, can travel freely within the red and blue zones.

6. Stay hydrated in Paris!

Stay hydrated thanks to hundreds of drinking fountains throughout Paris. Find your nearest drinking fountain on MyParisjetaime.

Note: metal or plastic bottles of less than 75 cl are permitted on competition sites.

7. Bring your bike to Paris

Train+bike intermodality

In the Île-de-France region, you can travel with your bike on the Transilien lines H, J, K, L, N, P, R and U as well as the RER lines A, B, C, D and E. Bicycles can be taken off-peak Monday to Friday, before 6.30 am, between 9.30 am and 4.30 pm and after 7.30 pm, as well as on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays with no timetable restrictions, subject to available space on the trains. In France and from abroad, it is possible to transport your bike under certain conditions on trains in France, whether on TER, TGV, Intercités or OUIGO trains. You can also take your bike to Paris by train from countries bordering France. The full guide is available at recto verso.
