The café is undisputedly ‘kawaii’ or cute. Taking its inspiration from manga culture, including Otaku culture (a Japanese term referring to individuals who embody geek or nerd culture and rarely venture out into the real world), the Kawaii café is a favourite Parisian address for lovers of traditional Japanese dishes. Customers can nibble on the tempting sweets arranged in glass jars or choose a drink from the cocktail menu made using Japanese alcohol.
The Left Bank also has plenty of addresses dedicated to geek culture, like the wonderful Odyssey crêperie, located in the heart of the Latin Quartier on the rue Dante. A haven for Star Wars fans, the restaurant boasts a menu written fully in Galactic, and spaceship-themed interiors. The restaurant has become a popular setting for numerous short films.
