Head to Les Halles district for drinks after work at the Reset bar, home of the ‘drink gaming’ concept. With any drink bought, the bar offers free access to the games consoles. An ideal way of letting off steam after a hard day’s work and a fun way to spend the evening with friends, work colleagues or bar staff! Games lovers will appreciate the retro selection of games on offer with NES, Dreamcast, and Playstation available to play a round of the legendary Street Fighter and Super Mario Kart.

Also in the centre of Paris, the well-named Dernier bar avant la fin du monde (Last bar before the end of the world) has gained a reputation as THE geek venue for a fun aperitif. More than just a themed bar, this space of almost 400 m², located just next to the Théâtre du Châtelet, welcomes fans of TV series, fantasy literature, manga and science fiction. An ideal place to come to read, play, drink and meet like-minded individuals in a thoughtfully designed interior. Discussions, debates, games nights and exhibitions are regularly programmed: Banksy and Star Wars, Philip K. Dick, Apérobot, etc.

In central Bastille, for lovers of e-sport, the Meltdown café is the perfect spot to hone your skills and square up to other players, while sipping on a cocktail—it’s important to keep your hands free!—and keeping one eye on the live feed of competitions on the bar’s big screens. Similar to the concept of ‘drink gaming’, the Meltdown offers PC stations for gamers, and organizes on-site competitions all year round. A festive atmosphere guaranteed!

Not far from here, in Oberkampf, enter the Japanese-inspired universe of the Kawaii café. Open all week, from 4.30 pm until late, this venue, lit by pink neon, definitely earns its name. The café is undisputedly ‘kawaii’ or cute. Taking its inspiration from manga culture, including Otaku culture (a Japanese term referring to individuals who embody geek or nerd culture and rarely venture out into the real world), the Kawaii café is a favourite Parisian address for lovers of traditional Japanese dishes. Customers can nibble on the tempting sweets arranged in glass jars or choose a drink from the cocktail menu made using Japanese alcohol.

The Left Bank also has plenty of addresses dedicated to geek culture, like the wonderful Odyssey crêperie, located in the heart of the Latin Quartier on the rue Dante. A haven for Star Wars fans, the restaurant boasts a menu written fully in Galactic, and spaceship-themed interiors. The restaurant has become a popular setting for numerous short films. Open from Tuesday to Saturday, the Odyssey also organizes numerous themed evenings throughout the year: costume parties, giant quiz nights, etc. An unforgettable place to visit for all Star Wars fans!
