5 rue Daunou - 75002 Paris
Opéra - Grands Boulevards
Not far from the Palais Garnier, this cocktail bar is an institution in the Opéra district. Created in 1911 by an American fleeing Prohibition, it is the oldest cocktail bar in Europe. It has a typically New York atmosphere, period mahogany bar and wood panelling, imported from Manhattan. On the menu: a large range of cocktails (the Bloody Mary was invented here in 1921), beers, whiskey… served by barmen in white jackets. In the evening, piano bar atmosphere downstairs.
