Opened on September 1, 2026, PAPAPA is the brand-new café and tea room at the Maison de Victor Hugo. Come enjoy a delicious and poetic break in its tree-lined garden or bright dining room, with a seasonal menu celebrating the flavors of the Cotentin and Guernsey!
Nestled in the heart of the Maison de Victor Hugo on the prestigious Place des Vosges, PAPAPA is the museum’s new poetic and gourmet café, conceived by Éditions Délicieuses. Named after the affectionate nickname the writer’s grandchildren, Jeanne and Georges, gave him, the café extends the museum experience into a light-filled room with custom décor or a peaceful, tree-lined garden tucked away from prying eyes. The menu showcases seasonal, locally sourced ingredients inspired by the regions dear to the author: the Cotentin Peninsula, the island of Guernsey, and Spain. In a poetic nod to his work, the dishes are named after his legendary characters: the “Le Gavroche” sandwich with Prince de Paris ham and Isigny butter, the “Fantine” tart, and the “Quasimodo,” a traditional Guernsey recipe. For desserts and drinks, treat yourself to a homemade teurgoule, a pear douillon, a Cotentin cider, or a selection of artisanal cookies for afternoon tea.
