Trendy bars in the Left Bank in Paris

The Left Bank is home to many renowned cafes and cocktail bars

At Saint-Germain-des-Prés, near to Mabillon metro station, there is no shortage of top venues. The {Grain}s dining cellar offers a selection of sakés and wines in a warm atmosphere. The Bar du Marché, the BDM for those ‘in the know’, attracts a mixed crowd of Parisians and visitors and reflects the France of old with its red and white checked tablecloths.

New trendy bars have opened alongside. With sophisticated decor and great food, they reflect the image of the neighbourhood: very Left Bank. Whether the decor is low-key style speakeasy, inspired by New York cocktail bars or traditional English pubs, there is something for all tastes.

Three other cocktail bars deserve a mention: Tiger, le bar à Gin, The Prescription Cocktail Club and the Schmuck Saint Germain, with its crystal chandeliers, comfortable sofas and cosy atmosphere. As well as having a drink, you can also sample delicious finger food. At the weekend, these bars become dance clubs with guest DJs.

The Compagnie des vins surnaturels, situated behind the Marché Saint-Germain, is a wine bar serving light meals. Comfortable and cosy, it is ideal for a quiet chat.
