Located in the large urban Parc de la Villette, the Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie is a popular science and technology discovery centre. Designed with a general audience in mind, the exhibitions promote an understanding of science and technology in a fun way. The Cité and the Palais de la Découverte together comprise Universcience, the largest science centre in Europe.
The Cité des Sciences et de l'industrie, located next to the Géode, is installed in a monumental building designed in 1986 by architect Adrien Fainsilber. There are multiple exhibition areas to explore, depending on what you are particularly interested in.
The permanent exhibitions include fun and interactive displays on different science topics including the story of the universe, or the satellite revolution. The Cité des Enfants is made up of learning-through-play areas designed for 2-7-year-olds and for 5-12-year-olds. The Lab de la Cité des Bébés (Baby Lab) is aimed at the under-twos.
In the same complex are housed the Cité de la santé (health), the Cité des métiers (careers) and the Science and Industry Library, as well as a Planetarium, a Fab Lab and a Living Lab.
Throughout the year, the Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie proposes a rich and varied programme of talks, shows and numerous other events.
