RER (Réseau Express Régional)

The RER is a public transport network by train serving Paris and the suburbs. There are 5 lines: A, B, C, D and E. Part of it is run by the RATP, and the other by the SNCF. Line A goes to Disneyland® Paris; line B to Stade de France and Charles de Gaulle airport; line C to the Palace of Versailles; line D also to Stade de France; line to the eastern suburbs of Paris. In the city, the main stations are Châtelet-Les-Halles (line A, B and D), Invalides (line C), Gare de Nord-Magenta (lines B, D and E) and Gare de Lyon (lines A and D). Prices are applied according to the zone (zones 1 to 5). Paris and the inner suburbs are zones 1 and 2. The Palace of Versailles is located in zone 3, whereas Charles de Gaulle airport and Disneyland Paris® are located in zone 5. For more information, see the RATP and Transilien websites.

Opening times and prices

Individual metro tickets: €1.90 for a single trip with connections in the metro or RER in zones 1 to 2.

The network runs from around 5am to 1am.

Disability

On lines A and B many stations are accessible with the help of a member of the station personnel, with the exception of some stations which have lifts. Enlarged passageways have been installed in the stations to facilitate passing through the ticket machines. For the sight-impaired, attention warning strips have been placed on all platforms. The signalling system has been intensified thanks to public announcement systems in the carriages and on the platforms. For the hearing-impaired equipped with hearing-aids, there are ticket desks with hearing loops in all the stations.
