La Petite Alsace

10 rue Daviel - 75013 Paris Place d’Italie – Chinese district
Little Alsace, near the Butte-aux-Cailles district, is a former workers’ housing development built in 1912 by architect Jean Walter at the request of Abbé Viollet. Entered through a blue wooden gate, the development comprises 40 colourful half-timbered houses, their design inspired by typical Alsatian architecture – steep gable roofs, white and brick walls, and painted timbers. The terraced houses surround a quiet courtyard planted with trees. One of the most unexpected sites in Paris!
