Cité Bauer is a delightful paved street, lined with pretty houses and tiny gardens, running alongside square Alberto Giacometti. As you wander down, stop at number 19 to admire an unusual large wooden gate into which are set two intricate wrought-iron hearts. It’s the work of Hungarian sculptor Alexandre Mezei, who lived here in the 1950s. To explore another quiet leafy street, turn into rue des Thermopyles.
