History of the Enclos de La Petite Venise (Little Venice)
Created in 1694, two years after the launching of the Grand Canal, this complex was intended to house the shipbuilding sheds. Warships from Marseille or Le Havre were assembled there, along with a more recreational flotilla. Indeed, the royal boating outings were made in gondolas imported from Venice, reflecting the court's fascination with the city of the Doges. The site of 'Little Venice', where the guild of sailors of Versailles was housed, dissolved after the Revolution, was transformed into stables under Louis-Philippe.

Presentation of the restaurant :
Nestled within the Château de Versailles estate, between the Bassin d’Apollon and the Grand Canal, the restaurant La Petite Venise has been turned into a festive, friendly trattoria, a vibrant, colourful place. The Italian cuisine includes a range of traditional recipes with a selection of antipasti to snack on with pre-dinner drinks or to enjoy as a starter, such as sliced deli meats, Parma ham and pesto or dill-marinated, semi-smoked salmon and burratina crostini. To follow, there is vegetable taglierini, mafaldine all'arrabbiata. To finish in style, enjoy a classic tiramisu or coffee and praline affogato.
La Petite Venise has everything to make for a delicious meal in a real change of scenery...
