A restaurant, brasserie and piano bar, La Closerie des Lilas is one of the capital's legendary venues. Since it was created in 1847, the establishment has received artistic and intellectual clients: Émile Zola, Paul Cézanne, Pablo Picasso, Jean-Paul Sartre, Ernest Hemingway and more recently Tim Burton and Johnny Depp. Inside it's chic and cosy with mosaic flooring and red imitation leather seats. The shaded terrace is particularly nice in summer. Typical Parisian brasserie cuisine is served, and the restaurant also offers gastronomic cuisine with many great fish and seafood dishes. You can also try one of the many house cocktails at the bar. Every year, women are given pride of place with many prizes (Prix de la Closerie, Prix Lilas, Lilas du Livre, etc.) awarded to the great women in the writing and publications fields.
