Musée de la Vie romantique

Located in the romantic neighborhood of New Athens, this residence—with its courtyard, garden, and two artists’ studios—has retained all its charm. The painter Ary Scheffer (1795–1858) entertained the cream of Parisian society during the July Monarchy here: Delacroix, Rossini, Chopin,
Dickens… The museum provides a beautiful setting for the paintings of Scheffer and his contemporaries, as well as the personal belongings of the writer George Sand (furniture, paintings, works of art, and jewelry).

The permanent collections of the City of Paris museums are open to the public free of charge. Temporary exhibitions are free for visitors under 18.
