Built in 1823 and listed as a historic monument since 1974, the Galerie Vivienne is one of the most emblematic galleries in Paris. Situated in the quiet 2nd arrondissement of Paris, behind the Richelieu library and very close to the Palais Royal, it is characterised by its neo-classical Pompeian décor. On the floor, you can admire the colourful mosaics created by the famous mosaicist Facchina, and look up to appreciate the beautiful glass roof that lets the light in. There is a wide range of shops: top-of-the-range ready-to-wear boutiques, tea rooms, delicatessens, wine cellars, grocery shops, antique bookshops (including the Jousseaume bookshop, the oldest shop in the gallery), famous restaurants, etc. The Galerie Vivienne is also accessible via the Rue de la Banque and the Rue Vivienne.
