Every year, since 1903, the Salon d'Automne has been held in Paris. After the Petit Palais, this art exhibition, created by the Belgian Frantz Jourdain, now takes place at La Grande Halle de la Villette. It was first designed to offer opportunities to young artists and to bring the Impressionist movement to a wider audience. Why autumn? Because this allowed French and foreign artists to paint small scale works outdoors in the summer and then show them at this exhibition.
