A spotlight on the multidisciplinary artist Kurt Schwitters and his radical work, which reinvents art by repurposing everyday materials
From 6 September to 7 February 2027, the Musée national Picasso-Paris is presenting a major retrospective of the German artist Kurt Schwitters (1887-1948). More than three hundred works and documents - paintings, sculptures, collages, sketchbooks, photographs, and more - trace the career of this multidisciplinary artist associated with Dadaism, who was at once a painter, poet, typographer, creator of the magazine and the “Merz” concept, and composer of the famous sound sonata *Ursonate*. Shaped by the experience of war and destruction, his radical work reinvents art through the reuse of everyday materials.
