A Journey to the Heart of the Estonian Art Scene from the Mid-20th Century to the Present
The Museum of Modern Art in Paris is presenting the exhibition “Estonian Realities” until 19 July 2026, which highlights the Estonian art scene from the mid-20th century to the present day through the works of three generations of major female artists: Olga Terri, Anu Põder, and Kris Lemsalu. The exhibition explores Estonia’s turbulent history by placing the body at the center of artistic creation. Visitors can discover melancholic paintings from the immediate postwar period, fragile and expressive sculptures, as well as contemporary installations populated by hybrid beings. It also bears witness to the persistence and resilience of this Baltic culture across various political regimes.
