From 15 April to 16 August 2026
Exceptional retrospective of 300 works celebrating the genius of Alexander Calder, from his iconic mobiles to his Miniature Circus
The Fondation Louis Vuitton is devoting its entire space - and for the first time its lawn - to a monumental retrospective of Alexander Calder. Entitled "Rêver en équilibre" ("Dreaming in Balance"), the exhibition marks both the centenary of his arrival in France and the fiftieth anniversary of his death. The chronological itinerary covers more than 3,000 sq. m. and features almost 300 works: kinetic mobiles, stabiles, wire sculptures, jewelry and paintings. One of the highlights is the exceptional return to Paris of Cirque Calder, on loan from the Whitney Museum for the first time in fifteen years. The exhibition also highlights the artist's links with the avant-garde (Mondrian, Picasso, Miró) and brings his aerial structures into dialogue with Frank Gehry's bold architecture.
