THEATRE/CONCERT HALL

Théâtre des Marionnettes du jardin du Luxembourg

Jardin du Luxembourg - 75006 Paris Musée d'Orsay - Saint-Germain-des-Prés
Since 1933, Guignol, the main character in French puppet shows, has taken up residence in the Jardin du Luxembourg. The theatre from which he performs was founded and created by Robert Desarthis. His son, Françis-Claude Desarthis, controls Guignol and also acts as an author-adapter-interpreter and director. The Théâtre des Marionnettes at the Jardin du Luxembourg is a large modern building (heated in the winter and well ventilated in the summer) equipped with perfected machinery for string puppet or glove puppet performances. It is the biggest theatre of this type in France: it can seat up to 275 people. The theatre is open on Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday, public holidays and during school holidays.
