Catholic priest Roger Soulange-Boden founded the church of Notre Dame du Travail to be a place of worship for the mostly working-class local population and to celebrate the dignity of workers. It was built between 1899 and 1902 by architect Jules Astruc. Its most remarkable feature is the impressive metal structure of the nave, whose columns and arches required 135 tonnes of iron and steel and which gives the church its modern, industrial style. It is classified as a historic monument.
