Inaugurated on July 15, 1926, as a tribute to the Muslim soldiers who died for France during World War I, the Grand Mosque of Paris will celebrate 100 years of history, spirituality, and heritage in 2026. To mark this centennial, several cultural and commemorative events will take place throughout 2026: the publication of the historical book 'La Grande Mosquée de Paris, Regards sur 100 ans en 100 événements' (Éditions du Cherche Midi), a special collection in partnership with La Poste, as well as themed exhibitions inside the monument. An ideal opportunity to come and (re)discover this jewel of Hispano-Moorish art.

The Grande Mosquée de Paris, built between 1922 and 1926, is located in the Latin Quarter, a stone's throw from the Paris Museum of Natural History and the Jardin des Plantes. Designed in Hispano-Moorish style, it is dominated by its 33-metre-high minaret. Inspired by the Alhambra in Granada, the patio is surrounded by sculpted arcades. The prayer room is a must-see for its decoration and magnificent carpets. The Mosquée de Paris is also a place to relax, with its hammam, restaurant, tea room and souk-like shop.

Located across from the Jardin des Plantes, the Grand Mosque of Paris can be visited in a peaceful atmosphere. The tour open to the public allows visitors to admire the Andalusian-inspired gardens, the large patio lined with arcades, the handcrafted mosaics (zelliges), the wood carvings, and the 33-meter-high minaret. Tours are available daily except Fridays and on Muslim holidays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Visitors may explore on their own or with a guide on site. Note: The prayer hall is reserved for worship and is not accessible during tours.
