Abbaye royale de Royaumont

Abbaye de Royaumont - 95270 Asnières-sur-Oise Abbaye de Royaumont
In 1228, the young Louis IX, future Saint Louis, and his mother Blanche de Castille founded the Royaumont abbey, still the largest Cistercian abbey in Ile-de-France, where he stayed on numerous occasions. Listed as a historic monument, the abbey buildings are arranged around the superb cloister, the galleries of which served the work and prayer places of the monks. The abbey has one of the finest examples of a Gothic refectory in France which communicates with the kitchens through a counter. The abbey, destroyed during the Revolution, has given way to romantic ruins, which suggest to visitors its grandiose proportions. Many tours and activities are available to groups and individual visitors throughout the year (guided tours, conferences, workshops, dinner concerts, festive meals, hotels, etc.).

The Royaumont table (Saturday evening and Sunday noon for the individual public - daily by reservation for groups) The Royaumont table, installed in one of the most beautiful vaulted rooms of the abbey, is part of the tradition French cuisine, in a spirit of openness, creativity and seasonality. The cuisine is inspired by the vegetable garden of the abbey where it draws part of its material, in addition to fresh products found from small French producers, preferably local. This desire to offer a cuisine that changes with the seasons has led the Chef to design a menu offering each weekend, with ease, a choice between two starters, two dishes and two desserts. Always in a spirit of openness, you can observe the realization of the dishes imagined and prepared by the Chef and his brigade through the large windows of the brand new kitchen of the abbey.
