Chaillot – Théâtre national de la Danse occupies part of the Palais de Chaillot, built for the Exposition internationale of 1937. Housed under Place duTrocadéro opposite the Eiffel Tower, the theatre has a rich heritage that make it worth a visit; it is a jewel of art deco, built by Jacques Carlu, Louis-Hippolyte Boileau and Léon Azéma and decorated by the greatest artists of the time, including the Nabis painters Maurice Denis, Edouard Vuillard and Pierre Bonnard, the theatre has been listed as a Historic Monument since 1980.
History with a capital H: this is where the first national and popular theatre in the world was established. After the war, it was the seat of the United Nations and the place where the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was signed in December 1948.
Behind the scenes: from the backstage areas to the costume workshop, the stage, the corridors... discover the mysteries of artistic creation and the technicians who bring the place to life.

Opening times:

Departure at 11.30 am every last Saturday of the month. Guided tours only (20 people maximum). Possibility to have lunch at the restaurant Les Îlots de Chaillot, opposite the Eiffel Tower, after the visit (bookings on +33 (0) 6 42 08 06 55).

It is essential to book and pay before the day of the visit, by telephone on +33 (0) 1 53 65 30 00 or directly on site during the ticket office opening hours. Ticket office hours: 11am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 2.30pm to 6pm on Saturday. Please note: the ticket office is closed on Saturday morning.
