Running between boulevard Raspail and boulevard Montparnasse, rue Campagne Première is an iconic street in the Montparnasse arts scene. Artists and writers who lived here include poets Louis Aragon and Elsa Triolet, photographers Eugène Atget and Man Ray, and painters Yves Klein and Foujita. Admire the façade of number 31, completely covered in art deco bay windows. Behind the carriage door of number 9 you can glimpse the cite d’artistes, a collection of a hundred or so artists’ studios built using materials recuperated from the pavilions of the 1889 Universal Exhibition. Artists who worked here include Giorgio de Chirico and Othon Friesz.
