Butte aux Cailles is located in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, between Place d'Italie and Parc Montsouris. This village-like district with its friendly atmosphere is a favourite with walkers, who stroll along the narrow cobbled streets lined with little flower-filled houses. Examples include rue Alphand, passage Barrault, passage Sigaud and the charming rue Michal. La Petite Alsace - a workers' housing estate opened in 1913 with around forty small half-timbered houses - and the flower-filled Villa Daviel are not to be missed. The Art Deco swimming pool at Butte aux Cailles is one of the district's landmarks. The lively Rue des Cinq Diamants is packed with little local boutiques and restaurants. There is also a wealth of street art, including murals by the artist Miss.Tic.
