Petit Palais - Musée des Beaux-Arts de la ville de Paris

Built for the 1900 World’s Fair, the Petit Palais building—a masterpiece by architect Charles Girault—became the City of Paris Museum of Fine Arts in 1902. It houses a magnificent collection of paintings, sculptures, furniture, and objets d’art dating from antiquity through 1914.
Among its treasures are an exceptional collection of Greek vases and a very significant collection of 17th-century Flemish and Dutch paintings centered around Rembrandt’s famous *Self-Portrait with a Dog*. Its magnificent collection of 18th- and 19th-century French paintings includes major works by Fragonard, Greuze, David, Géricault, Delacroix, Courbet, Pissarro, Monet, Sisley, Cézanne, and Vuillard. In the field of sculpture, the museum boasts exquisite collections of works by Carpeaux, Carriès, and Dalou. The decorative arts collection is particularly rich in works from the Renaissance and the 1900s, including glassware by Gallé, jewelry by Fouquet and Lalique, and the dining room designed by Guimard for his private mansion. Finally, the museum houses a magnificent collection of graphic arts, including, notably, the complete series of engravings by Dürer, Rembrandt, and Callot, as well as a rare collection of Nordic drawings.

The permanent collections of the City of Paris museums are open to the public free of charge. Temporary exhibitions are free for visitors under 18.
