Separated by several centuries, Michelangelo and Rodin, two major figures in Western sculpture, engage in an exceptional dialogue. Their works, imbued with a shared fascination for the expression of the body and human emotions, are juxtaposed to highlight the legacies, commonalities and unique aspects of their artistic approaches.
The exhibition brings together a remarkable collection of marbles, bronzes, plaster casts, terracottas, mouldings and a significant body of drawings. This exhibition highlights the artistic explorations and aesthetic reflections that drove both sculptors, both of whom were engaged in a shared quest: to convey the inner vitality of the human body.
The body is conceived here as the locus of the soul’s tensions, a living material shaped by time, gesture and creation. This juxtaposition offers a sensitive reinterpretation of their works and invites us to consider sculpture as a space of invention and constant transformation.
