Programme of events to mark the Navy’s 400th anniversary
This year, the National Maritime Museum is celebrating 400 years of the French Navy with a programme of exhibitions, lectures and a series of symposia across museums throughout France. In Paris, from 12 May to 2 August 2026, the museum is presenting ‘The Navy and the Painters. Four Centuries of Art and Power”, showcasing painters from the 17th to the 20th centuries who have chronicled France’s maritime history, and the 46th edition of the Salon de la Marine, dedicated to artists – painters, sculptors, engravers, photographers, videographers, illustrators and more – who devote their work to the naval and maritime fields. Another major event: the temporary installation by street artist Crey132, depicting the flight deck of the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle in life-size form, making it accessible to all from 5 June to 5 September 2026. The experience is immersive thanks to an augmented reality installation and a participatory dance performance on 6 June 2026.
