The Dance School, a play by Carlo Goldoni

Comédie-Française - Salle Richelieu, Place Colette - 75001 Paris
From 14 November 2025 to 3 January 2026

The Venetian playwright's comedy of manners and social satire enters the Comédie-Française repertoire!

Until 3 January 2026, the Comédie-Française presents "The Dance School" by Venetian playwright Carlo Goldoni, directed by Clément Hervieu-Léger. Set on the same stage as the modern version of Molière's "Misanthrope", performed in parallel, the play adopts the tradition of "décors à volonté" - a single set that can be modulated between tragedy and comedy - devised in collaboration with Éric Ruf. The plot unfolds in a dance school where an authoritarian master, whose business is failing, tries to "sell" some of his students to an impresario. But the troupe of young dancers, exhausted and in search of dignity, is ready to rebel. Through humor and social tensions, this comedy of manners, which has entered the repertoire of the Comédie-Française, evokes emancipation, the status of women and the quest for respect - themes that still resonate today. Possibility of translating the show into English using connected glasses (must be booked in advance).
